The AudioQuest DragonFly DAC has garnered recognition for its ability to enhance your audio experience. It can make a big difference when paired with high-end headphones, and can even improve cheap headphones. While the Red model has a higher-performance ESS Sabre DAC chip than the Black model, both models have a 32-bit ESS Sabre DAC chip. The Black is powerful enough to drive most preamplifier input circuits and efficient headphones, whereas the Red is compatible with even power-hungry and low-efficiency models. The Dragonfly DAC works best with Apple products, but may also be used with PCs, laptops, and phones. It can significantly improve the quality of music streaming, particularly with high-quality formats like Apple Lossless and Qobuz. A user experienced the DAC's onboard DSP peak limiting sometimes occurs, but this issue is firmware-based and does not happen during long-term music listening. Connectivity issues were reported by a user that the DragonFly headphone jack was flaky, and the USB plug fit poorly. These issues caused the product unit structural integrity to be disappointing. To summarize, the AudioQuest Dragonfly DAC delivers a significant improvement in the sound and is recommended for all devices.
