Answer: The active ingredient in this is the same as prescription-strength mouthwash. I take an ounce out of a regular bottle of mouthwash and add one ounce of this back in. It makes the regular mouthwash 0.125% vs the prescription strength which is 0.12%. Your dentist was just doing it a different way.

For fungal infections, it is highly effective, and results are visible within three uses. However, for ringworm, it is recommended to see a doctor and get prescription strength anti-fungal cream. The Hibiclens cleanser does not stain the tub but tends to stain washcloths.
